This is the Pure Trails experience — distilled into one weekend. Coastal ridges, hidden valleys, open moorland, home-cooked food by the fire, and conversations that go on too long in the best possible way.
We've designed Basecamp Exmoor as the perfect entry point — whether you've been eyeing one of our international adventures and want to try us out first, or you're simply looking for a fun, well-organised weekend with a great group of people.
Stay in a communal bunkhouse at Northcombe, Exmoor. Run brilliant trails with expert guides. Learn from people who've finished UTMB, the Winter Spine and Dragon's Back. Leave with new friends, new confidence and a very clear idea of what your next adventure looks like.

A classic stone-built barn tucked in the heart of the Exmoor landscape — Basecamp in the truest sense. Large open-plan living and dining area with a wood-burning stove, bunk-style sleeping for up to 16, dedicated games room and minutes from some of the best trails in the UK. On-site parking for 15 cars.

Absolutely. All running abilities are welcome at Basecamp. Our runs are designed to be social and "cruisey." With a high guide-to-runner ratio, we ensure everyone is supported, whether you’re a seasoned runner or someone just finding their trail legs.
We’ve got you covered. We provide delicious, home-cooked communal meals throughout the weekend. We can cater for all dietary requirements (vegan, GF, etc.)—just let us know when you book.
We have one night out for dinner in the local pub (excluded), however they can cater for dietary requirements and we'll share the menu with you in advance.
Yes, there is plenty of space for those driving. Northcombe has on-site parking for up to 15 cars, so you can arrive and leave your vehicle safely for the duration of the weekend.
The nearest train station is Taunton. From there, you can take a bus to Jury Road Garage in Dulverton. From the stop, it is about a 25-minute uphill walk, or we can arrange to collect you if timings work.
Bedding: Visitors must bring their own pillows, sleeping bags or quilts. Warm clothing is highly advisable.
WiFi: Northcombe is a place to get away from it all so there is no WiFi on-site. Guests are welcome to use the WiFi at Woods Bar in Dulverton for free.
90% of our guests arrive solo. The communal nature of the barn and the shared miles on the moor mean you’ll have a new running tribe by Friday night dinner.
