EXPERIENCE OVERVIEW
Lavaredo is arguably one of the greatest trails found anywhere in Europe. This jaw-dropper threads its way through ethereal scenery, every corner brings something bigger and more magnificent to take in.
We base ourselves for the duration in the gorgeous mountain town of Cortina d’Ampezzo, it’s location is supreme being so centrally located with a wonderful buzz and excitement about the place as visitors peel off in different directions of the Dolomites.
Over the week, our trail follows the famous Lavaredo Ultra Trail a 120km route with some 19,000ft to climb. We’ve broken this down into manageable chunks covering approx. 24km a day to maximise the experience. Each day we’ll return to Cortina to relax and rest.
We have the support of a vehicle for the entirety of the experience which gives us direct transfers to/from the trailhead each day, as well as pop-up aid stations at a variety of points around the course.
INCLUDES:
6 nights of accommodation in 4* hotels in central Cortina (twin or double share)
Fully-supported trail running trip
Breakfast and lunches throughout
Aid stations along the route inclusive of nutrition and snacks

WHERE WE STAY
IMPORTANT NOTES
+ DO I NEED A VISA?
British / European / Australian and US citizens can enter and remain in Italy for a maximum of 90 days without a visa.
+ WHAT IS THE WEATHER GOING TO BE LIKE?
June is a great time of year to be in the Dolomites with warm daytime temperatures, and long daylight hours, the valleys are awash with spring flowers, the snow is retreating and the meadows are lush and green.
It’s worth remembering this is the mountains though and conditions can be unpredictable, as a result, you need we need to be prepared for a range of seasons on this trail. A typical June day in the Dolomites will start with blue skies and warm temperatures, clouds tend to move in throughout the day with a chance of a rain shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon, before clearing up again in the evening.
But of course, you never know, we may have rain, sun, snow and clouds all in one day.
We’ll likely leave early to ensure we get the best of the weather, but will naturally keep an eye on the forecast and may make adjustments to the running of the itinerary if we need to. We’ll communicate this clearly with you.
It's also worth bearing in mind that night-time temperatures in Cortina can get pretty chilly (10 degrees C or lower).
+ WHAT DOES THE TRAIL RUNNING LOOK LIKE?
We'll likely be out on the trail each day for around about 4 - 6+ hours spent on our feet. Our route is challenging and involves a range of distances of approx. 20km daily, inclusive of steep uphill and steep downhill sections.
However, it's not all out running as we aim to jog the flats, run the downhills and walk the uphills. We'll be making plenty of stops at a variety of points, have vehicle support at a variety of spots each day.
Our aim is for everybody to enjoy the experience and there is no pressure on running speeds. We'll naturally spread out as a group as individuals' pacing will be different, however with two running guides one of us will always be close by. There will likely be a lot of hiking to complement the trails when walking up hills.
Please note that the itinerary is subject to changes. We may run distances further or less depending on the general feeling of the group. Start and finish times may also vary.
+ ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE INFORMATION
We will be hosting a group transfer from Venice Marco Polo (VCE) on the arrival day of the trip. Cortina is a 2-hour drive from the airport and we will only be departing once everyone has arrived, we anticipate a departure of midday but will confirm this with you all the day before you arrive.
For those arriving earlier and with time available you have the opportunity to explore Venice:
On the ground floor of the airport, you can find a luggage storage service which charges around Euro8 per large bag to store. Opening hours are 06:00 - 20:00. Full details here. ATVO's buses run from Venice Marco Polo Airport to Piazzale Roma in just 20 minutes. You can purchase a return ticket from the arrivals hall
Our group transfer will be departing from Marco Polo Parking Area B which is just outside the arrivals area, crossing the road on the left-hand side.

(Unsure What Three Words is? You can download the app. It's a handy navigation tool).
For our transfer back to Venice Marco Polo we will be returning to Parking Area B to drop off.
+ A TYPICAL DAY
A typical day on the experience will see us depart the hotel after breakfast around 09:00 am. We’ll have our support van waiting out of the front of the hotel which is available for you to leave any additional luggage/clothing which will be accessible to you at a variety of points on the day.
Given the size of the group, we will depart in two vehicles where we’ll drive to the trailhead to start our day. Journey times will vary between 15 - 25 minutes.
On average we will run between 3-5 hours a day covering mileage ranging between 18-25km. This is not all outrunning, we’ll be making sure we stop to soak up the views, take pictures and ensure we are getting the most out of this remarkable place.
We’ll also have two trail guides with the group at all times, in addition, our driver/guide will also be on the route which gives a greater ratio of guides to runners and the ability for you to run at your own comfortable pace.
Where accessible our support vehicle will be present at a range of aid points throughout most of the days providing snacks, water, nutrition and access to your gear.
Once the trail is finished we’ll have picnic lunches to reward our efforts. We’ll then make our way back to Cortina with time set aside to relax, before meeting up for drinks, dinner and sharing stories later in the evening.
