The World's Best Places to Trail Run
The pandemic got us thinking, strapped into our desks dreaming of trails beyond our horizons. Where are the very best places in the world to go trail running?
There is no denying we operate in some of the most extraordinary destinations imaginable (well, we think anyway!).
For a bit of fun, we’ve put together a list of places we consider to be meccas in their own right. If you're a trail runner looking for adventure and excitement, these locales should be on your bucket list:
1. WHISTLER, BRITISH COLUMBIA
Whistler is a famous amusement area within the Coast Mountains, roughly two hours north of Vancouver on Canada's west coast. It is an excellent destination for many trail runners due to its many fun and long adventurous trails that run through its mountains and valleys. Whistler offers many Trail Running options such as mountain trails like the Alpine trail or forest trails like Cheakamus Riverrun. Wedgemount Lake Trail is one of the undoubtedly sensational trails, which is 12.6 kilometers and features a waterfall.
2. SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH
Salt Lake City is a recreational hub with parks and mountain-running trails for Trail Running Holidays and nature lovers, with hand-curated trail maps. City Creek Canyon is excellent for trail runners. It is 10.5 kilometers long and features a river, and it connects to multiple trail paths as you get further. Ensign peak has scenic views and is excellent for runners looking for a short but challenging trail run. Also, check the 9.5 kilometers Grandeur Peak East Trail from Church Fork.
3. FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA
Flagstaff is located at the center of a forest and about seven thousand feet above sea level. It has some of the best urban running trails— many of the latter are accessible through the town, including the Flagstaff Urban Trail Systems, which stretch over 50 miles, although the city has a plan to extend it to 130 miles. Woody mountain road is another excellent trail running path spanning 32 miles from Flagstaff's Arboretum through Mogollon Rim.
4. BOULDER, COLORADO
Boulder is 25 miles north of Denver, amid the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Among the best paths for Trail Running is Boulder Creek Trail which runs about 8 miles and passes through the Colorado Campus. Another excellent Trail running track is a 5-mile loop trail path around the Boulder Reservoir and adjacent Boulder valley ranch.
5. QUEENSTOWN, NEW ZEALAND
The stunner: Moke Lake is a 45 minutes loop that spans through a famous camping ground. Another popular trail is Jack's Point Track, a 12 miles track with beautiful scenic mountains and lake views; you can go up over 1500 feet in just 2 miles.
