Join us on an exhilarating trail running adventure as we journey from one end of the Amalfi Coast to the other. Imagine winding paths that hug the rugged coastline, panoramic views of the deep blue Tyrrhenian Sea at every turn, and charming little towns perched on clifftops.
On arrival into Naples we head straight across to picture-perfect Sorrento — the start of our journey east. We'll pass through the most iconic towns of the Amalfi Coast, run the famous Path of the Gods, relax on beaches and celebrate each day with local Italian cuisine that caps off the trip in style.
This fully-guided adventure covers approximately 55km split over three running days — fully supported throughout, with luggage transferred between bases so you run with a light daypack only.

A classic family-run B&B in the heart of the Amalfi Coast — surrounded by vines and farmland, a slice of paradise among the bustle of the tourist towns. We love it for the amazing panoramic views, the warmth of the welcome, and the fact that the Path of the Gods trailhead starts just metres from the front door.

Book Your Free Call →Naples airport is a 1.5 hour drive to Sorrento. We'll be running a group transfer at a set time (late morning — time TBC). If you are arriving earlier you can opt to meet us at the hotel in Sorrento, which is easy to access via regular ferries that depart from Naples.
On the final day we'll also be running a group transfer back to the airport for everyone after breakfast. Please arrange for your onward flights to depart in the morning.
The nearest airport is Naples International (NAP), with direct services from London Gatwick, London Stansted and Manchester, as well as connections from most European hubs. We recommend aiming to land before 11:00 on arrival day to comfortably join the group transfer to Sorrento.
If you're flying from further afield or have a connection, just let us know your itinerary in advance and we'll make sure you're not left stranded. On departure day, the group transfer returns to Naples Airport after breakfast — we suggest booking flights departing no earlier than 12:00 to give yourself plenty of time.
Some guests choose to extend their stay in the Sorrento or Amalfi area before or after the trip — it's one of the most beautiful coastlines in Europe and well worth an extra day or two if your schedule allows.
Absolutely. We run the aid stations ourselves and can cater for everyone with picnic lunches.
Breakfasts are hosted by our hotels and any dietary requirements can be easily handled. In the evenings we head out to local Italian restaurants together as a group — dinner is on you each evening, giving you the freedom to order exactly what you fancy. Vegetarian and vegan diets can be accommodated, though bear in mind that cheese and dairy do feature heavily on menus, so choice may be more limited.
This is an iconic trail for good reason — the scenery is out of this world. As we travel along the route, it evolves from terraced hilltop farms with shrubs and crops on day one, to sparkling Mediterranean coastal cliff trails that roam from town to village.
This dramatic landscape means we spend good time descending and ascending, but with very manageable daily distances we've made this trip suitable for all abilities.
Underfoot it's a mix of ancient stone-laid paths, narrow coastal tracks and some rocky sections on the steeper climbs. Trail shoes with a good grip are essential — road shoes aren't suitable for this terrain. The paths can be uneven and occasionally narrow with significant drop-offs, so a head for heights is useful, though nothing is technically exposed to the point of requiring any specialist equipment.
The Amalfi Coast is one of the sunniest destinations in Europe, and our May, June, September and October departures are all chosen for reliably warm, dry conditions. Daytime temperatures during these months typically range from 20–28°C at trail level, dropping slightly higher up on the coastal paths.
May and October are slightly cooler and less crowded, making for excellent running conditions and quieter trails. June is warmer and the days are long. September is arguably the sweet spot — warm water, golden light, and the summer crowds have thinned out considerably.
Sun protection is essential regardless of the month — the combination of elevation, reflected light off the sea and long hours on exposed trails means sunburn can catch people out quickly. Pack high SPF, a hat and sunglasses.
We will send you a complete packing list in advance of the trip so you are clear on exactly what to bring. If you have any questions in the meantime, just drop us a message at explore@pure-trails.com.
The essentials: trail shoes with good grip, a running vest or lightweight pack (1.5L minimum capacity), sun protection (high SPF, hat and sunglasses), a lightweight wind or rain layer for the higher sections, and any personal first aid or medication. Trekking poles are optional but some guests find them useful on the steeper descents.
This trip is suitable for all abilities of runner, but you should have a base level of fitness to handle three days of back-to-back running. It's worth drawing your attention to the elevation involved — being coastal trails with a variety of mountains, you should expect a reasonable amount of climbing as well as descending as we weave our way along the chain.
Our goal is not to run a race, but for everybody to experience a beautiful journey. As a rough guide, if you're comfortably running 15–20km per week and can manage a couple of hours on your feet without difficulty, you'll be well placed to enjoy every day of the trip.
If you're in any doubt, just get in touch before booking — we're always happy to have an honest conversation about whether the trip is the right fit for you at this point in your training.
Every trip we have ever run has a mixture of people and abilities. These are not training camps but adventures designed for experience — you can expect plenty of stops and a lot of laughter each day.
We also have two running guides on this trip which means we can split the group with zero pressure around how fast or slow you'd like to run.
Completely normal — nearly 90% of our guests arrive on their own. Pure Trails is deliberately designed around the solo traveller experience. You'll join a small group of like-minded people who share a love of running and exploring the world on foot. By the end of Day 1, you'll feel like you've known everyone for years.
Groups are capped at a maximum of 10 guests, which keeps the dynamic intimate and genuine rather than coach-tour. There's no awkward mingling required — the shared experience of running one of the world's most beautiful coastal trails together takes care of that on its own.
If you'd like to speak with a previous guest before booking, just ask — we're always happy to connect you.
We're based in Sorrento throughout the trip — a lively, beautifully positioned town perched on the cliffs above the Bay of Naples, with the Amalfi Coast stretching away to the east. It's an ideal base: well-connected for transfers, full of excellent restaurants and bars, and with that particular buzz that comes from being somewhere genuinely stunning.
Accommodation is twin or double room, hotel standard, with en-suite bathrooms. Guests travelling solo will share with another guest of the same gender unless a single supplement is requested at the time of booking. Breakfasts are included throughout, along with picnic lunches on all running days.
Travel insurance is mandatory for all Pure Trails guests and must be in place before departure. Your policy must cover trail running activity, medical evacuation and trip cancellation. A standard travel insurance policy will not cover trail running — please check the small print carefully and look for policies that specifically include adventure sports or trail running as a covered activity.
We recommend providers such as Sports Cover Direct, Battleface or World Nomads, all of which offer policies with appropriate trail running cover. If you're unsure whether your existing policy is adequate, it's worth calling your insurer directly to confirm.
You'll be asked to provide your insurance provider, policy number and emergency contact number as part of your booking form.
British, European, Australian and US citizens can enter and remain in Italy for a maximum of 90 days without a visa. We recommend checking the latest entry requirements for your nationality before booking.
