EXPERIENCE OVERVIEW

Blissful Mallorca is a real treat with its bountiful turquoise coves, white sand beaches, and sleepy provincial towns. But, look a little to the north and you will find the lofty Tramuntana mountains which rise steeply up from the blue waters of the Mediterranean.

We’ve put together an immersive four-day experience which combines all of the island’s very best bits of the island, running breathtaking trails along ancient pilgrim paths, through orange and olive groves, beautiful little towns, astonishing beaches, and lush mountain tops. Outstanding views are guaranteed.

Each day we’ll head out to a selection of different trailheads throughout the island and run a great variety of changing scenery. This adventure is also fully supported which means a vehicle will be with us throughout providing us with nutrition, food, and water, as well as being guided by two Pure Trails guides.

Our base for the duration is a beautiful hotel on the beaches of Port de Soller which makes it the perfect spot to kick back, relax and swim after wonderful days of trail running.

INCLUDES:

  • 4 Nights’ accommodation in boutique hotels in Port de Soller

  • Twin or double room share throughout (single room upgrade is available)

  • Fully-supported trail running trip (vehicle support, snacks, nutrition, water)

  • Breakfast and lunches

  • Group arrival/departure transfers at set times

  • Transfers to the trailheads

  • 4:1 Runners to Guide Ratio

  • Trails & Trees: with every booking, we plant a tree

OUR ITINERARY

DAY 01 | WELCOME TO MALLORCA

Welcome to Mallorca! Arriving at Palma (PMI) we have a group transfer departing to our hotel on the shores of Port de Soller in the early afternoon. Check in and relax before meeting with your fellow group for an introduction and briefing by our team. Late afternoon, we’ll head out for a slow-paced 5km run around the bay to get our bearings and then head out for drinks and dinner on the beach.

DAY 02 | RUN LLUC MONASTERY TO POLLENCA

We’ll depart from Port de Soller and take the impressive mountain road to the Lluc Monastery, the mountain road is a bit slow and will take us around about 1 hour to reach our start point.

Much of the day is an enjoyable descent as we pick up the trail from the Lluc monastery. A familiar sight is the woodland which we travel through before picking up country lanes that route through old villages. In the near distance, we can see the bay of Pollenca as we descend gently the whole way down, with one small but final climb to navigate before we enter the old town.

Arriving into Pollenca we’ll take some time to explore and enjoy a drink in the provincial square to celebrate our journey. We'll then transfer back to Port de Soller via the inland road for some well deserved rest and relaxation.

DAY 03 |CANYON TRAILS TO CUBER

Trail Running: Approx. 15km

We’ll start the day after an early breakfast as we begin running from our hotel to the impressive canyon beyond the Barranc de Biniaraix, weaving our way through the old town stress of Soller. The canyon trail ascends amazingly via the ancient cobbled pilgrim’s path, alongside tall cliffs and shady terraces.

Arriving at the top of the gorge the trail slackens as we then enter a pine woodland, we then get to enjoy the downhill all the way towards the Cúber reservoir for our well-earned finish. It’s then back to our hotel with time to relax, before heading out for our final night together.

DAY 04 | ANCIENT TRAILS TO PORT DE SOLLER

Trail Running: Approx. 24km

We have a spectacular day where we start in the UNESCO old town of Valdemossa and run back to Port de Soller over mountains and along the coastal trail the whole way home.

This stunning day starts with a nice climb over the summits of Puig Graz and Es Caragoli - the views up here are breathtaking - before we descend down and check out the charming village of Deia. Our final part of the journey picks up the coastal trail which weaves its way past a lighthouse and down into the bay of Port de Soller. We finish at the hotel for well-deserved chill time to relax and swim in the sea.

DAY 05 | GOODBYE, MALLORCA

It’s time to pack up and bid farewell to your newfound trail-running friends and our local team. A group transfer is arranged in the morning for you back to Palma International Airport (PMI) in time to connect with your onward flight back home.

WHERE WE STAY

HOTEL EDEN NORD, PORT DE SOLLER

The Eden Nord is just metres away from pristine beaches and the lapping shoreline of the beautiful Port de Soller. Take a dip in the pool or head to the beach to relax after a good day of trail running.

IMPORTANT NOTES

+ FLIGHTS

There is plenty of choice when flying to Mallorca (PMI) with a full spectrum of direct and indirect flights from all European countries.

We'll be hosting group transfers on the arrival/departure days in the morning and please look to coincide between 10:30 - 12:00.

If you look like you'll be running later than this, then no problem and we can host a private transfer for you for a small fee. Just let us know.

+ VISAS

British and US citizens can enter and remain in Spain for a maximum of 90 days in every 6-month period without a visa.

+ RUNNING ABILITY

We cater for all abilities of runner and Mallorca plays the perfect host. This is a journey, not a race where we enjoy our trail running each day.

Naturally pace will differ from person to person and by having two trail running guides throughout allows us to cater for everyone.

At times we may split the group which allows us all to move more fluidly, allowing all team members to run at their own comfortable pace, without feeling pressured.

+ TRAIL RUNNING

Trail running in Mallorca is magnificent, the trails are quiet, travelling along dry-stone paths, forests, and through orange, olive, and other citrus groves. We will also pass through many quiet traditional villages and local provincial towns with their cobbled streets and open-air cafes. All the while the lofty heights of the Tramuntana will flank us on one side.

At times we will climb steeply through wide canyons and the trail can become particularly dry and rocky where care and attention need to be given. A handful of our days include some steep climbs, but they are worth it as the reward is spectacular views from the top.

+ TEMPERATURES

Mallorca enjoys a Mediterranean climate year-round. We purposefully choose to run this trail running trip in the spring and autumn as the temperatures sit in the early to mid 20 degrees C with clear days expected. The conditions are absolutely perfect for trail running.
